In the context of addiction treatment:
Helps clients access emotions and insights they struggle to express verbally.

What to know:

  • Can feel more engaging than traditional sit-and-talk sessions.

  • Often includes art, drama, or adventure elements.

Example:
In an experiential session, a client uses role-play to “talk to” their addiction as if it were a separate person.
