Long-Term Program

A treatment program where people stay for 60–90 days or longer, sometimes up to a year or more.

In the context of addiction treatment:
Long-term care gives more time to address deep-rooted patterns, trauma, co-occurring disorders, and rebuilding life skills.

What to know:

  • Often recommended for severe, chronic, or repeatedly relapsing addiction.

  • May feel like a bigger commitment up front but can reduce the cycle of revolving-door short stays.

Example:
After multiple failed 30-day attempts, someone enters a 6-month therapeutic community and finally builds stable recovery.
