In the context of addiction treatment:
Common medications include methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.

What to know:

  • MAT reduces overdose risk and improves retention in treatment.

  • Being on MAT is being in recovery—it is not “substituting one drug for another” when used appropriately.
