Treatment Goals

Concrete targets you work toward during treatment.

In the context of addiction treatment:
Goals might relate to substance use, mental health, relationships, work, legal issues, or physical health.

What to know:

  • Goals should be realistic and meaningful to the client—not just what the program wants.

  • Goals can change over time as needs change.

Example:
A goal might be “30 days opioid-free” or “rebuild trust with my partner by being honest and showing up sober.”
